BRC: How would you describe your book?
Andrea: In Tales of the Dim Knight, mild-mannered janitor and superhero fanboy Dave Johnson gets all his wishes at once when an alien symbiot gives him supernatural powers. But what's he to do with them? Fight crime and corruption while trying to keep his family together and avoid being sued for copyright infringement.
BRC: What message do you hope it conveys?
Andrea: Underneath all the comedy, lies a serious message, which Dave slowly learns, that good deeds cannot save you, only the blood of Christ.
BRC: What did you enjoy most about writing this book?
Adam: I had a blast coming up with some of these scenes and getting to play on the superhero genre's various tropes. I worked in spoofs for everything from Batman and Superman to Underdog and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
BRC: What did you dislike most about writing this book?
Adam: The book has been a bit of a challenge to edit because it's so unique. This style of spoof isn't done, particularly in a Christian/clean story. Our publisher has been great, though.
BRC: What inspired you to become a writer?
Andrea: I was too old to play with dolls. I've always been a book worm with a wild imagination, so it came naturally to me from childhood on. I'm drawn to the power of story to communicate God's truth and inspire readers.
BRC: Tell us about your writing process.
Andrea: Adam wrote the rough draft of this one. I added on several layers, he did another major rewrite, followed by more editing and the finishing touches.
BRC: What are you working on now?
Andrea: I'm writing book four of an unpublished alternate earth series featuring a contemporary, matriarchal society awaiting the coming of Lady Veritas to tell them about Jesus Christ, whose gospel threatens to turn their world upside down and set it afire with controversy. The series explores the biblical submission and marriage roles from an angle that’s less intimidating for those who grew up in our modern world of feminism.
Adam: I'm working on a nervous breakdown. I think I'll made it at any rate. I'm President of my local ACFW Chapter, I've got a full-time job, I blog at the Idaho Press-Tribune, and write for Pajamas Media. :) However, on a fiction standpoint, I'm finishing up my two other Laser and Sword serials, "Order of the Sword" and "Rise of the Judge."
BRC: What books do you enjoy reading?
Andrea: Science Fiction, Fantasy, women's fiction, and romance.
Adam: Science Fiction, Action Adventure, mysteries.
BRC: Where can readers buy your book?
Adam: All you got to do is whistle.
Andrea: Seriously, a free preview of the first four chapters is available as an e-book in several different formats at: http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/23302
Tale of a Dim Knight is currently expected to release on Amazon and such on November 22.
BRC: Where can readers find you online?
Andrea: I'm at http://www.povbootcamp.com/ and http://askandrea.adamsweb.us/. I'm also on facebook (alightchild) and twitter (povbootcamp).
Adam: Try http://laserandsword.com and for my Detectives podcast, http://www.greatdetectives.net/.
