Dear Reader,

Hello, and thank you for meeting me here. I’m excited about my new release, a contemporary romance called Meander Scar. Before I even considered writing books, the first time I learned the name of the geographic feature rivers leave when they curve in upon themselves, I thought it would make a great name for a book. I was entranced with the idea of comparing people and nature. When a stream hits an insurmountable object, it bends. What happens when people’s lives crash into a seemingly insurmountable event? Every year, people go missing. What happens to those people who are never found? How do their families react?  My story starts out with a forty-something woman, Ann, alone, waiting for…what? Her husband to walk in the door? Her son to forgive her? When a former neighbor, the handsome young man who became a respected attorney, shows up and offers to help put her husband’s case to rest, she chides herself for feeling attracted to him, especially since he’s more than a decade younger. As Mark gradually reveals his true reason for coming back, Ann decides to reclaim her stagnated life and get it flowing straight again. When news of their romance causes turmoil in the family, she accepts an invitation to visit New York to get away from the heat and there discovers the truth about her husband.

That makes for a hard truth to get around, and only the first of a series of difficult events in Mark and Ann’s lives. The culmination came together for me when I met with a friend who was reading for me. She said that it was time to make the point that it’s not okay for Christian men to leave their wives. We all have choices to make, some harder than others. Those decisions affect everyone around us.

Making difficult choices was a concept I wrote about in my last book, Healing Grace, a story about a woman with a special gift and the biggest decision of her life to make. I’m working on the sequels to the mystery series that started with The Gold Standard, one of Heartsong’s mystery book club selections. I have a couple of other stories circulating, one about a woman who wants to control her fate when her cancer returns and another romantic tale set against the back drop Starved Rock State Park in Illinois.

I started writing professionally in 2004 after taking a course through the Christian Writers Guild. I hope that readers will enjoy my stories, but also think about the themes long afterward. I have discussion questions posted on my website and goodreads.com, and would love to chat with your book club. I’m a dedicated reader, too, and book clubs help me pick up books I wouldn’t normally read, especially non-fiction. Besides books for review, I have a couple of eBooks from my publisher, Kerry Jones’s Cast in Stone, Jean Pike’s In the Shadow of the Dragonfly, and the print version of The Scarlet Pimpernel on my reading pile. I look forward to the next Anne and Todd McCaffrey Dragonrider books whenever they come out. Thank you for letting me share of piece of myself with you. I look forward to the next time we meet.
